Elected offices of ministry in the Presbyterian Church consist of
ministers of the Word and Sacrament (pastors and associate pastors),
elders, and deacons. Elders exercise church leadership, government,
and discipline and are members of the session.
Deacons are primarily responsible for ministering to those in need,
sick, friendless, or any who may be in distress both within and beyond
the community of faith. More information on these offices and our Constitution can be found at the "How We Are Governed" section of the Presbyterian Church USA website.

Session is the governing body for the church and is
responsible for carrying out the Mission
Statement of First Presbyterian Church. This group is composed
of Pastor Susan Barnes and 10 elected elders in active service. Each
elder on session chairs a committee and recruits members to assist
with the responsibilities of that committee. Session meets once per
month, generally on the third Tuesday. These meetings are open to
any member of the church who wishes to attend.
